Seahorse Babies!
Posted by Gary Hull on
Just wanted to post a quick comment regarding our large Seahorse. After several failed attempts at mating, we finally have some Seahorse fry swimming around the tank. The picture I have posted for this blog post shows the first attempt at mating and the spilled eggs on the bottom of the tank. The eggs look orange due to the oil that they contain. At this point, there are only 7 or 8 fry but at least they managed to have some this time. I will update the blog post with some pictures in the next day or so. Happy Fishkeeping!

Happy Sunday, First off, if you ordered Live Fish at the end of last week, they did not ship on Saturday due to the 21 degree temperature. Monday is supposed to be in the 40s so it will work for shipping. I also always list the updated ship dates for fish at the top of our website home page. Even though we include 2 heat packs during winter shipments, the temp has to be over the freezing point for the heat packs to actually function correctly. Another topic that has come up this week is feeding baby angelfish newly hatched...
Seahorses Are Back!

We had success in the past with our Dwarf Seahorses and have recently purchased several pairs of a larger species (Hippocampus Erectus) to breed in our saltwater tanks. We purchased these breeders from a facility that specializes in captive bred seahorses. The great thing about the larger species is that they can easily be trained to take frozen mysis shrimp which can be purchased at most aquarium stores or online. The feeding literally takes...

Happy New Year Fishkeepers! Just wanted to take some time out from cleaning fish tanks to wish all our customers and followers a Happy New Year. Hoping that your fish keeping experiences this year are enjoyable and rewarding. As we plow through the next couple cold months, our goal is to grow out as many angelfish as possible to dime plus size in anticipation for a warm up in March and easier shipping. We are continuing to ship fish through Jan and Feb but have to raise the shipping cost slightly since all orders must be double boxed and include...

Good Evening Fellow Fishkeepers, Well, it's been several weeks since I last posted. I do have a good excuse though, I quit my job at the Postal Service and took a 8-4 Monday through Friday position with a Non-Profit Organization that is closer to home. This will allow me to work with my fish more in the evenings and provide a much needed 2 day weekend every week! To bring everyone up to date on the fishroom, we have several pair of Classic Koi and High Coverage Koi laying eggs again. I have about 300 High Coverage Koi fry growing...
